Spain has reached the final of the Euro Cup after 12 years. Germany defeated France 2-1 in the first semi-final played at the Allianz Arena in Berlin, Germany on Tuesday.
Now in the final, they will face the winner of the second semi-final between England and the Netherlands on Sunday. Before this, Spain reached the final by defeating Italy in 2012.
The heroes of Spain’s victory were 16-year-old Lamin Yamal and Dani Olmo. Both scored 1-1 goals for the team. France scored in the first 10 minutes of the match to take the lead, but after 15 minutes Spain equalized with the first goal and just 4 minutes later with a second goal to take the lead.
France scored within 10 minutes
Both teams scored three goals in the first half of the match. France captain Kylian Mbappe attempted a goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Jesus Navas took the ball away from him before he could reach the goal post.
Just two minutes later, Mbappe had the ball, passed it to his teammate without any delay and Kolo Muani made no mistake to give the team a 1-0 lead.
Spain scored two goals in 4 minutes
The joy of the French team and their fans was short-lived, as Spain equalized after just 15 minutes. In the 21st minute of the match, 16-year-old Lamin Yamal scored a goal to level the score at 1-1. After exactly 4 minutes i.e. in the 25th minute, Danny Olmo scored a goal to make the team 2-1 ahead.
France’s failed attempt to equalize in the second half
Leading 2-1 in the first half, the morale of the Spanish players remained intact in the second half. The Spanish team dominated the French defence.
However, in the 60th minute of the match, France’s Ousmane Dembele tried to equalize the score with a cross shot, but his attempt was thwarted by Spain’s goalkeeper Unai Simeone. Spain’s lead remained intact at the end and the team won the match 2-1.
