Equity markets have benefited from strong growth in the Indian economy globally. Due to the strong boom in the Indian stock market, the market cap of the companies has also seen an attractive increase. Out of more than 4,700 companies listed on BSE, 100 companies have joined the one trillion club. In 2024, 26 more companies are included in the one trillion market cap due to an average increase of more than 11 percent in the share market.
The total market cap has reached 451 lakh crores in which only 100 companies have a share of more than 291 lakh crores i.e. 65 percent on an average. On an average, more than 70 companies have joined the one trillion club as the Indian economy rapidly emerged from the crisis after the Corona epidemic. PSU companies have been dominant. One fourth of the total 101 companies i.e. 24 companies belong to the PSU segment while PSU companies contribute 58 lakh crores to the total market cap. Sensex touched a new high of 80,397.17 points and Nifty 24,443.60 points.
Firms enter trillion club fast as public sector company shares surge, average value of 100 companies crosses Rs 290 lakh crore
There was a time when the top market capitalization used to refer to numerous companies like SBI, ONGC, IOC, Bharat Electric, NTPC. But in the last one and a half years, many stocks of this segment have reached the club of trillion rupees, with the Hanuman leap, railways, defense, banking companies. LIC became a company with a market cap of more than Rs.5 lakh crore directly after the IPO. Currently, Hindustan Aeronautics, ONGC, NTPC, Coal India are in the list of companies with a market cap of more than Rs.3 lakh crore. The market capitalization of PSUs included in the trillion club has been Rs.58 lakh crore, which is considered as 20 percent of the market cap of the top 100 companies.
